Shuping’s research program falls into three areas: corporate governance (ownership structure, monitoring, compensation, and leader turnover), strategic leadership (micro and macro foundations), and institutions (formal and informal regulations). The convergence of these areas can include an examination of the interactions between micro and macro environments in shaping governance efficacy (e.g., leaders’ decision-making) and in turn firm competitiveness. Focusing on firms in both developed and emerging economies, Shuping has several papers published (or in press) at Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Applied Psychology. Shuping also serves as an editorial board member of Management and Organization Review. Shuping has worked and lived in China, Singapore, Canada, and the USA. Prior to joining PolyU, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Kansas State University.
