    Normal 2 years and Maximum 3 years for MPhil study
    Normal 3 years and Maximum 5 years for PhD study

Credit Requirements for Graduation

A minimum of 18 academic credits, plus 7 training credits

 

^Students are allowed to take additional subjects in the MPhil study; and they are allowed to apply for transfer of credits which have not been used to contribute to the MPhil degree. Currently, the maximum number of credits transferrable to 3-year PhD programme is 9 credits.
*3-yr PhD students are allowed to transfer one credit from their previous studies in the ethics subject (HTI6081) and one credit from their previous attendance at seminars.
#Students who fail the Examination will not be allowed to transit to the PhD study.

    Maximum 6 years / 5 years  (for students with Master degree with research components)

Credit Requirements for Graduation

A minimum of 18 academic credits, plus 7 / 6 training credits

 

*3-yr PhD students are allowed to apply to transfer one credit from their previous studies in the ethics subject (HTI6081) and one credit from their previous attendance at seminars.

 #i. Departments can integrate the two elements as long as the Confirmation of Registration is successfully carried out within the first half of the normal study period as required by the University.

 #ii. Students who fail the compulsory PhD Qualification Exam will be required to exit with the MPhil degree (subject to meeting all the relevant MPhil requirements).
